Pregnancy is an amazing time of a woman's life when she becomes part of the miracle of birth. As a doula I am fortunate to get the chance to pamper pregnant women during labor and help them achieve a birth experience that they will remember forever. Birth doulas offer professional labor support to women and their partners. They are an integral part of the birth team and are dedicated to helping families stay with their birth plan. As a doula I will be by your side, assisting your partner with labor support skills, giving you a variety of ideas and techniques to help labor progress and ease your discomfort.
Breastfeeding & Prenatal Education Services:
Breastfeeding allows you and your baby to emotionally bond in a special way that cannot be matched, since breastfeeding meets both the nutritional and nurturing needs. Nursing is a learned skill for both mother and baby that requires time and patience.
Whether teaching instructional basics on breastfeeding, helping with breastfeeding problems, troubleshooting in the early days/weeks, and/or dealing with weaning, I can assist mothers with all stages of breastfeeding. In addition, I have contacts with qualified IBCLC Lactation Consultants to whom any breastfeeding problems and issues beyond her scope may be referred.
Babywearing Services and Workshops:
Do you have several Mommy or Daddy friends that are interested in baby carriers or babywearing and would like to see what's out there? Do you need a speaker at your MOMS group, and would like to know the benefits of babywearing? Why not schedule a babywearing party or workshop? This is designed for parents and care givers that would like an intoduction to babywearing. In a workshop, I will go over reasons for babywearing, give an introduction to the different types of baby carriers ( ring slings, wraps, pouches, mai tais, ergo's) and demonstrate their use. I will also help you choose the best carrier for your needs and desires.

Private Consults: I also offer private consults in your home thoughout the Portland Metro area. I charge $25 for about an hour long session. We can go over what will work best for you and teach you how to use what you decide to get. This can be very helpful when your just not sure!

There's really nothing else like it. Belly casting is tender, intimate and magical. A belly cast represents an eternal memory of pregnancy, the beginning of the relationship between Mother and Child. It's a precious and realistic way to preserve the most intimate time in the lives of these two people.
Mothers spend nine months looking down at their belly. They have a great bird's eye view of it from above, and a good front view looking into a mirror. But nothing compares to being able to see the beauty of pregnancy from every angle.
Belly casting involvs plaster gauze that is softened with water and then applied to Mom's torso over a layer of lubricant. When the bandages harden and the cast has set, it's easily removed and the belly cast is complete. A belly cast is most often hung on a wall, but it can also be displayed on a baby's dresser, or used to hold baby socks and toys. It can be decorated or left in its original state. Either way, it's beautiful!
A belly cast is one of the most accurate and realistic representations of pregnancy because it's 3-dimensional, unlike photographs or videos. It preserves the miracle of changes Mom's body has undergone to bring a new person into the world. Belly casting is a true representation of that miracle.
